This 71-square-foot ground-up bathroom addition in the City of La Verne, California was conceived as a high-performing space, seamlessly integrated into the existing residence through a carefully planned bump-out. The project began with demolition and exterior wall extension, including new foundation work, framing, roofing tie-in, and full weatherproofing to ensure structural continuity and code compliance.
The interior layout was optimized to maximize usability within a limited footprint, resulting in a clean, efficient configuration featuring a walk-in shower, single vanity, and toilet. Plumbing and electrical systems were entirely new, with upgraded supply and waste lines, dedicated circuits, GFCI protection, and energy-efficient LED lighting. Mechanical ventilation was added to meet Title 24 and local code requirements.
Design-wise, the bathroom emphasizes a modern minimalist aesthetic. The walk-in shower includes a frameless sliding glass enclosure. Fixtures are finished in brushed nickel, paired with a streamlined vanity, quartz countertop, and under-mount sink. Soft, muted wall tones and natural textures were selected to enhance the sense of openness and calm within the compact space.
A new window was installed to introduce natural light while maintaining privacy, and all finishes were chosen for durability and moisture resistance. Flooring transitions seamlessly from the existing structure, maintaining visual continuity while providing slip resistance.
The project adhered to City of La Verne building codes and standards, including structural, energy, and water efficiency requirements. The result is a fully self-contained, modern bathroom addition that adds both functional value and architectural coherence to the home.
